For graduates

What is LNURL-auth?

LNURL-auth is a Lightning Network authentication standard that lets you log in to websites by signing a challenge with your Lightning wallet's private key. No email, no password, no account at a third-party identity provider. You scan a QR code, your wallet signs the challenge, and you're in. It's the most sovereign way to authenticate on the internet. Wallets that support LNURL-auth include Phoenix, Zeus, Breez, Mutiny, and Blixt, among others.

How do I get an invite code?

Invite codes are issued by Lightning Developer Bootcamp organizers to each cohort's graduates. If you completed a bootcamp cohort, contact your cohort coordinator. Codes are not publicly available — they're the mechanism that ensures every developer on Zaplance is a verified bootcamp graduate.

Is Zaplance free for graduates?

Yes. Creating and maintaining a graduate profile on Zaplance is completely free. The platform is funded by employer subscription or interest fees (when applicable) — never by charging developers.

Can I sign up if I'm not a bootcamp graduate?

No — and that's intentional. Invite codes are the core trust mechanism. The entire value of the platform for employers rests on the guarantee that every developer profile represents a verified bootcamp graduate. Without that guarantee, the directory loses its signal.

I attended multiple bootcamps. Can I add multiple cohort credentials?

Yes. After signing up, you can redeem additional cohort invite codes from your profile dashboard. Each valid code adds another cohort credential badge to your profile.

What happens when an employer signals interest?

You receive an email notification with the employer's company name, their message, and a link to their employer profile. You can then decide whether to respond — the employer does not get your contact details automatically. You're always in control.

Can I control who sees my contact information?

Yes. Every social link and contact detail has a visibility setting: public (visible to everyone), logged-in (visible only to logged-in users), or hidden (visible only to you). You can be on the directory without exposing your email or LinkedIn to anonymous visitors.

Can I block an employer?

Yes. From your dashboard you can block any employer. Blocked employers cannot send you interest signals.

For employers

How do I get verified as an employer?

Sign up at /signup/employer with your company name, description, and website URL. Our team reviews each employer application manually — this usually takes 1–2 business days. You'll receive an email notification when approved. We verify employers to protect graduates from spam and low-quality outreach.

Is it free to browse the directory?

Browsing the public directory is free for everyone. Sending interest signals requires a verified employer account. Pricing for additional features (if any) will be communicated transparently.

How many interest signals can I send?

Verified employers can send up to 10 interest signals per week. This limit exists to ensure graduates receive meaningful, targeted outreach rather than spam.

Will graduates see my company details when I signal interest?

Yes — graduates see your company name, logo (if set), and verification badge when they receive your interest notification. They also see the message you write. There are no anonymous interest signals.

Can I post jobs or bounties?

Bounties (sats-paid tasks via Lightning escrow) and job roles are on the roadmap for upcoming platform phases. For now, the primary outreach mechanism is the interest signal. Learn more about our roadmap.

Technical & privacy

Is Zaplance open source?

Not currently. We may open source parts of the platform in the future.

How is my data stored and secured?

All data is stored in a hosted PostgreSQL database with encrypted connections. JWT sessions are stored in httpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax cookies — not accessible to JavaScript. Sensitive profile fields are encrypted at rest. Social links and contact details respect the visibility settings you configure.

What Lightning wallets work for sign-in?

Any wallet that supports LNURL-auth works. This includes Phoenix, Zeus, Breez, Mutiny, Blixt, and Alby (browser extension). If your wallet supports scanning a QR code for login, it almost certainly supports LNURL-auth.
